Happy new month, the year is moving gradually and you need to move not just with speed but following the processes that will bring you to the achievement of your goals this year.
One of the purposes of writing to you every week is not just to teach you the principles for growth but to consistently remind you that you must take necessary actions toward the fulfilment of your goals if you want to live an enjoyable life and have a blessed year.
Let me create a foundational context for what we would be looking at for the next few weeks – the aim of this series on the specific principles to build high self-esteem, it’s to help you know and understand the processes you have to go through to build high self-esteem in a way that you can easily apply it to your day to day living.
We’re going to look at six important factors necessary to build and express high self-esteem for the next six weeks and the first thing I’m writing to you about this week is the practice of conscious living.
What is Consciousness?
Consciousness is not just knowing, it’s not just awareness, it is the highest form of manifestation that shows that you’re in charge of your life – the higher the consciousness the higher the form of life you live.
Consciousness when practised wholesomely is a demonstration that you’re in charge of your life – and we can see that in the definition, it is the state of being aware and responsive to yourself and your surroundings.
It means that consciousness is a key with two dimensions that are necessary if you want to maximize its usefulness in building high self-esteem. The first dimension is awareness and the second is the ability to respond – the practice of living consciously should not only open you up to some dimension of new knowledge about yourself and your surroundings that can help you grow but must also inspire you to take the necessary actions that will ensure the growth happens.
This is the necessary foundation needed to build high self-esteem, you must get to the place where you become consistently aware of what is going on with you, especially mentally and what is going on with your environment so that you can respond in a way that suits your development.
Your environment is the inside first before the outside, before awareness can help you impact your physical surroundings, you must first be aware of the things going on in your mind, it is your ability to respond to that and put your mind right that will aid the awareness of your physical surroundings in a way that you can make an impact.
The Basic Tool of Survival.
Everyone needs the basic tool of awareness and the ability to respond to survive in life – your level of consciousness determines your capacity for concept formation and the level to which your mind is active.
This is the importance of an active mind and concept formation that comes with a high level of consciousness – every form of building begins from the mind and the mind is the source and the platform on which self-esteem thrives, it means that in building and demonstrating high self-esteem you must be able to formulate personal concepts that fit into who you are and the only way to be sure of who you are is to practice living consciously in a way that gives you the awareness needed to help you formulate and respond when necessary.
To survive life (survive in this state means to live in a way you specifically design for living your best life.)
To survive you must be highly aware and you must be able to respond, the only way to do this consistently is to always be present in the moment by being conscious.
This awareness and the ability to respond is a needed tool to build any aspect of your life that needs building including building high self-esteem and it’s also the needed tool to destroy whatever you don’t want in your life; this is the beginning of dealing with low self-esteem and also the substance that builds and manifests high self-esteem.
Out of Your Own Volition.
Consciousness is an innate tool, a naturally built-in function for everyone, but the level to which you can take advantage of its glory depends on the level at which you’re ready to build it.
Consciousness is your inbuilt capacity for self-management in all its glory but the level to which you can use this self-management tool depends on your willingness to enable, practice, and heighten its level while your unwillingness can also submerge its usefulness.
This means that it is always within the sphere of choice to either be aware or not bother about awareness, actively avoiding awareness – it means that the power to elevate consciousness or diminish it is solely with you alone and it’s determined by the choices you make on daily basis.
It means that you can know something about yourself and decide numb down that consciousness that is meant to be an advantage to a level where what you know about yourself becomes immaterial – while the other dimension to this is that you can actively choose not to know the things about yourself that are necessary.
You can choose to ignore what you’re conscious of and you can choose to ignore the whole of consciousness – the repercussions of the two are the same, it takes away the power to be in control of yourself from you.
As powerful and necessary as living consciously is for survival and well-being, you can decide to subvert that power and when this is done, low self-esteem is one of the results. The process of going higher and building high self-esteem must start with the willingness to come into and consistently exercise your power of conscious living, being aware, and being in the moment with the willingness to respond.
Our mind is a basic tool of survival that always prompt our consciousness, betray the prompt in any manner and your self-esteem will suffer – it is impossible to feel competent and worthy while conducting your life in a mental fog. Choosing to subvert your level of consciousness will only lead to a lack of competence and self-respect.
Discomforting Facts.
One of the major things that kill consciousness is when you choose to subvert uncomfortable facts about yourself when you choose to be deaf to what you’re hearing and be blind to what you’re seeing because they don’t fit into your mental picture. The problem here is that the process of subverting discomforting facts will also numb consciousness to the extent that it becomes largely inactive.
The right action to the consciousness of discomforting fact is to admit the awareness and determine how to respond – consciousness is an asset that must never be submerged because it brings you to the awareness of some discomforting fact – response is the way to build not avoidance, not ignoring and not numbing, if you want to build high self-esteem, you must always find the right response to the awareness that consciousness brings and to continuously seek out the faculty of consciousness to bring more of the awareness that you need to respond to.
This is the essence of the practice of conscious living, your consciousness must be heightened to build high self-esteem and other parts of your life, it is impossible to address what you’re not conscious of.
The First Step to Building High Self-esteem. (Knowing what to do and knowing what you’re doing.)
The practice of conscious living is an important first step that you must take if you want to build high self-esteem, you must be active in your environment (inward and outward environment.) Things cannot be happening in your life that you are not aware of and not just aware of what is happening but you must be aware of why it’s happening and what is causing it to happen to build the capacity to respond to it – this is the true hallmark of conscious living that carries the potential to help you build high self-esteem.
Consciousness in building high self-esteem is what shows you what is relevant according to your needs, wants, values, goals and actions – in a way that inspires you to act and respond based on the awareness.
The source and the platform for building and growing your self-esteem is the mind, this makes living consciously an important tool that shows you what you have to do to build the mind and what you have to respond to stop hindering the efforts of building the mind.
Knowing what you are doing as it relates to the growth and strengthening of your mind is an important factor to build high self-esteem and active and intentional consciousness is the tool that brings this awareness.
To know what to do, you need to be conscious, to know what you’re doing, which means analyzing your actions and the openness to continuous learning and feedback with the aim for intentional growth also demands active consciousness.
All of these established the fact that the practice of conscious living is a tool to constantly build the mind which is the source of self-esteem – to build high self-esteem which requires building the mind demands that you must live a conscious life.
Finally, I want you to know that the practice of conscious living must drive you to become an active person, being passive about the things that you need to act on will not help you in building yourself, being passive will rather make you timider to the state where you can no longer act confidently.
The first step to building high self-esteem demands that you live a conscious life.
You know that I consider it a great privilege to write to you every week and I believe you will have an amazing week as you continue to probe open your consciousness for building higher self-esteem and live a great life.
Have an amazing week and talk to you soon again.
